HABBANIYA RACECOURSE | ||
The Iraq city of Habbaniya on the River Euphrates, nicknamed the Garden city, about 50 miles West of the capital Baghdad, catered for the servicemen during the Second World War. The city had its own racecourse which raced ponies during the War and had its own Tote for betting purposes. The course also had a polo field. |

The medal shown above was awarded in 1948 as second prize in a 6 furlong sprint event. |
